Maki-E Artist

Japanese Maki-E artist Mr. Takashi Sadaike, of Japan, is under the employ of Franklin-Christoph for special projects, including the recent edition of the IPO Diamondback LE Fountain Pen.

Sadaike was born in 1974 in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa, Japan.  Ishikawa, being known as one of the best cities for the Urushi Lacquer Industry, is home to his family business. Growing up around the art form,  Sadaike took to Maki-E at an early age. In 1997, he graduated from Urushi-Art school in Wajima, Ishikawa, majoring in Maki-E art.

Three times, in 1995, 2000, and 2002, Saidake was recognized by the Japan Traditional Urushi Work Association for his outstanding work.

Now, having taken over his family business, Sadaike's work is growing in prominence, including his work for Franklin-Christoph.
